Walking, Cycling and Train Spotting in North Yorkshire Grove Cottage is the ideal retreat after an exhilarating walk over the North Yorkshire Moors. If walking or cycling is your thing, then Whitby and the surrounding area is a must. There's no need for the car, whether on foot or on bike you can set off straight from the Cottage on the Whitby to Scarborough cycle way or you can walk along the coastal paths either south to Robin Hood's Bay or north beyond Sandsend.
For anyone keen on train spotting, the steam trains can be seen running through the Esk Valley below the cottage. Why not catch the steam train to Grossmont and then walk through the beautiful countryside to the next train stop at Goathland. After a well earned tea and cake stop, you can then catch the steam train back to Whitby. For the more adventurous, the Coast to Coast cycle route ends at Robin Hood's Bay, traditionally finishing off with a dip in the sea - whatever the weather!!
